The Major Taylor Cycling Club of the Carolinas is excited to celebrate the legacy and life of James Tracey Davis with a memorial ride on Saturday 8, 2024 in North Charleston SC. Come join us as we continue in the spirit of unity which he began. The purpose and foundation of the Unity Ride is to honor Major Taylor's legacy while promoting a road cycling community of diversity and inclusion. All levels of cyclists are welcomed regardless of race, gender, cycling club affiliation, pace, and bicycle type. This year's event is dedicated to the life of James Tracey Davis, who transitioned on June 9, 2023, while cycling in NC. The support from this ride will go towards the Major Taylor Cycling Club of South Carolina Advocacy Program, which partners with organizations, communities, and others for the "Share the Road Save a Life Campaign".
Enjoy a 20-mile, 43-mile, or 65-mile road in the beautiful area of lower SC on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 7:00 am, wheels down at 7:30 am. On June 7, 2024, the meet and greet will begin at 3 pm-5 pm at the host hotel the Embassy Suites in North Charleston, The fun continues at 5 pm- 10 pm at Top Golf for food, drinks, and fun activities of golf, put-put and more. On Saturday, June 8, 2024, we will meet at 7 am at 1801 Volvo Car Dr, Ridgeville SC 29072. Located off I-26 ext. 189. Look for Camp Hill Park for meeting site. Along the route, there will be provided refreshments, rest stops, SAG support, bike repairs, medical assistance, and police presence. The ride will begin with the first 6 miles of silence(date of the crash).
After the ride please join us for information sharing about how you can get involved with bicycle safety within your communities presented by Fiona Martin of Palmetto Coalition, and Nicole Lindahl of Bicycling in Greensboro. Enjoy the music, food trucks, and fun.
